Pickled radishes & more rain

The rain keeps on falling and at this point I’m mainly just amazed each week that we have anything to harvest. Apart from the in-the-moment damage from heavy rain and flooding, we’re starting to see the more delayed effects, with the onset of rotting in some crops and of diseases like powdery mildew that thrive in hot, humid conditions like these.

At times like this, it’s nice to be able to fall back on simple comforts like eating good food. This past week, I’ve made a few tasty recipes, including a quite authentic-tasting pad thai that also called for these amazing pickled radishes as a garnish. While the pad thai was great in itself, the radishes were definitely the stand-out component of the dish. With just a couple weeks left in the spring radish harvest, now seemed a perfect time to share this tasty recipe!

This week at the market, we’re still heavy on the spring harvest! Check out our full harvest list below and expect some new additions to the table in the near future, including snap peas, garlic scapes, beets, and carrots and even the first summer crops from the hoop house!

Have to agree w/Barb. What a season but on the two of you trudge & the results continue to be amazing. Glad I brought
radishes to the beach. Will check out that recipe for sure. Your continued upbeat attitude is incredibly encouraging.
    Good luck tomorrow.

I was so intrigued by Mike’s random info spiel on piracicaba broccoli that I (and another lady nearby) impulsively bought some. Can’t wait to try it ! Also LOVE your chard and salad greens. I feel healthier already. Keep up the good work, guys!

Thanks so much! We just had our first Piracicaba of the year last night and even Caleb liked it! I’ve been growing it for about 5 years now and prefer it to regular broccoli. I sauteed it with olive oil and garlic and then added about 1/2 cup of water at the end and simmered it for a few minutes.
