Spring to summer

We’re on the edge of transitioning from spring to summer items, with the cucumbers and zucchini just beginning to produce and the first potatoes nearly ready to dig. We also have tons of green tomatoes on the vines, so fingers crossed those will be on their way soon. It’s funny at this time of year, because while we welcome in the summer harvest, we’re also preparing for fall. We’ve got trays and trays of fall scallions growing under lights in the basement and are beginning to seed the fall carrots in the field. Because carrots can take nearly two weeks to germinate, this is always an onerous few weeks where I spend a LOT of time watering hundreds of feet of carrot seeds to try to keep them consistently moist in order to germinate!

It looks like a warm, sunny weekend for the markets and we hope to see all of you there! This week’s harvest list is below.

Thanks for that interesting info. Very excited to get the zuccs so I can make some delicious bread which I started
doing last summer after being reminded by Caleb that he was doing it at his house! Of course I didn’t know that
carrots required so much up front work but now I will really appreciate them. Everyone is chomping at the bit
for those tomatoes for sure. Good luck w/this decent weather.
