Still warm

It has been a very warm autumn so far. Despite some unusually early light frosts and some more over this last weekend, we have yet to have any heavy frosts or freezes that would put an end to the season for summer crops. While we’ve passed the first harvest wave for our tomatoes, the plants have actually put on a huge amount of beautiful new green growth in the last few weeks and some of the cherry tomato plants are even flowering again! After a weekend with lows of in the thirties, we’re looking at a week with highs into the low 80s several times, a definite oddity for late October. Usually by this point we’re spending a good amount of time each day opening, shutting, and putting on and off row cover in the hoop house. This year, we haven’t even pulled the row cover for inside the hoop house out of our shed yet!

The upside is that we still have peppers, eggplant, and zucchini available! The eggplant has been producing like mad the last couple of weeks, so make sure to pick up some of these warm weather favorites before the real cold sets in. See below for our full harvest list. The online store will be open Thursday from noon until midnight.

I am glad there is an upside to this unseasonable weather—and it makes it much nicer to be outdoors. Enjoy such productivity!

Commenting from the beach. A very cool mist just rolling in. It was very warm before that happened.
Nice to continue on w/the summer crops especially since I’m learning to love eggplant! In some ways
its easier for you I guess to not have to cover & uncover. Crossing fingers that you get some more
    tomatoes.
